Education officials are probing the full extent of over-capacity problems in schools across the country after several kids were left without a place.
Damien Rooney, from Mullingar in Westmeath, said: “That is a clear example of a broken education system. Where is the communication?”Damien, who works in Dublin, said: “He didn’t get a place for last September, so he was given a home tutor, but we had to re-apply for the tutor after each school term.
She said: “We got ‘no’ from three local schools, including one where his dad is a former pupil. They said they are oversubscribed. “Our child has developed rejection-anxiety and stress. No 12-year-old should feel rejected by society.“They get accepted by all three, but they can only choose one. Helen O’Sullivan in Malahide, Co Dublin, said: “Our boy is 13 and in a mainstream school, but he is non-verbal.
