Student arrested after loaded firearm seized at San Jose middle school, police say

Police in San Jose arrested a middle school student Friday for allegedly bringing a loaded gun to school, the department said.

Officers were still at Hoover Middle School on Park Avenue as of about 1 p.m., where they said they took a juvenile into custody and seized a loaded handgun. Police were initially alerted to the situation at 10:21 a.m. No threats were made and there is not any ongoing threat to the school or its surrounding area, police said.
