Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa considered retiring following his 2022 season, in which he endured multiple stints in concussion protocol, he said Wednesday.

The 25-year-old suffered another concussion in Week 17 againstTagovailoa finished 2022 with 3,548 yards, 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions, along with a league-leading 105.5 quarterback rating in 13 starts. This makes so much sense given the pattern of concussions he has suffered.

“You think it’s easy. Just don’t fall and hit your head. We use crash pads to land on first. We’re trying to fall with tucking your chin….it’s about the technique to disburse your energy when you fall.”Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said in March that Tagovailoa “is in a great spot” entering 2023 after his injury-riddled season.

“All the best things that you can possibly hear,” McDaniel said about Tagovailoa’s health. “This is not something that, for a lot of people, it happened and then you’re all of a sudden thinking about it as the OTAs start again. This is something that our training staff and Tua have been attacking every day.
