'Don't Say Gay' Expansion Requested By Gov. DeSantis Approved

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida Board of Education on Wednesday approved a ban on classroom instruction about sexual orientation and gender identity in all grades, expanding the law critics call “Don’t Say Gay” at the request of Gov. Ron DeSantis as he gears up for an expected presidential run.

The DeSantis administration put forward the proposal last month as part of the Republican’s aggressive conservative agenda, with the governor leaning heavily into cultural divides ahead of his looming White House candidacy. Florida’s so-called “Don't Say Gay" law has prohibited discussion of various LGBTQ issues in many of the state’s classrooms. “We’re not removing anything here,” Diaz Jr. said on Wednesday.

The current law is also the root of an ongoing feud with Disney, one of the state’s largest employers and political donors.

Why are teachers teaching in this state?

Surely this includes cishet-normative categories, as well. Time to pack up those framed pics on the desk, “my family” drawing assignments, Daddy-Daughter dances, and be sure to have staff remove their wedding rings. Sick of having a heterosexual agenda shoved down our throats.

Good! Sexual orientation does not belong at school! I send my kids to school to learn math, science, history, reading/writing, etc. and not whatever someone else chooses to do with their private time!!!! education

GovRonDeSantis is now forcing schools to no longer use he, she, him, her, ms, mrs, sir, mother, father, or any other term that may refer to a person’s gender since it will be instruction on gender identity.

If you voted for the Republican then you should not complain they promote devilish ideas.

This will SUPER help the mental health of marginalized student populations that the right is so worried about.
