Peake continues to look for new variations on the play, right up to Joel Coen’s 2021 film The Tragedy of Macbeth starring Oscar-nominated Denzel Washington in the lead. “Macbeth is one that I keep going back to,” says Peake, in an interview from her home in Vancouver. “There is some Shakespeare that I’ve seen so many versions of that I get a little bit saturated. But Macbeth is one that I’m always curious to see someone else’s take on. It’s these really relatable human feelings playing out on this huge scale. That is something that I think draws us to it.”
