Freshman councilman Mario Bravo is facing strong challengers in what could be the most competitive local race this election season.“You always run scared, but I feel strongly that we’re going to win without a runoff,” the District 1 councilman said.Bravo is facing six challengers, and a couple have drawn decent financial support. Jeremy Roberts and Sukh Kaur have raised tens of thousands of dollars for their campaigns.
“I think they’re going to see that the incumbent is vulnerable, and they can support somebody new,” Roberts said.Kaur, 34, is a former middle school teacher turned public education consultant. She is CEO and founder of the education consulting organization EDreimagined. She’s feeling good about the upcoming election.
