At least 11 people have been killed after an apartment building was struck by Russian shelling in the eastern Ukrainian city of Sloviansk. Ukrainian authorities say up to five buildings were hit including a school and administration building.

Although absolutely terrible the sad fact that civilians die in war zones is neither rare or novel in any way. People of influence not pushing both sides to the negotiating table in this conflict bear some responsibility for the growing civilian death toll as this escalates.
