Ridge Point was trying to become the first sports team in school history to win a state championship and the first local girls team to win it all since Memorial in 2018. Ridge Point, which had a 10-game unbeaten streak coming into the matchup, reached its first state final by scoring twice in the second period of overtime in a 4-3 win over Wylie East on Friday. The Panthers almost advanced to their first title game last year before suffering a 4-2 overtime loss to Rockwall.
