Two nonprofits, the Project Ready voting rights organization and the, sponsored the live-streamed event in conjunction with local outlets of the Chalkbeat and TapInto news organizations.
Council thanked the sponsors and told two dozen in-person attendees that he was a product of Newark Public Schools, held bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Montclair State University in political science and law & governance, and was chair of the school board’s personnel committee and vice chair of finance.
