Home ministry to prioritise adopted children for citizenship

Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail says there are 3,000 people born before independence who are waiting for citizenship. – Home Ministry handout, April 13, 2023.

He added that applications for adopted children accounted for the highest number of pending citizenships at 133,436. “There are about 3,000 applications from those born before independence, and many of them are already in their 70s and 80s,” he said today.
