University of Edinburgh students have rejected calls for all student association venues to go vegan by 2027.
PBU Edinburgh campaigner Emily Kemp called the vote outcome "a setback in our strive for climate justice, but not one we will allow to stop us." "If Edinburgh's students are so far unconvinced that animal farming and fishing is wrecking our planet and would rather take the words of those with a vested interest in concealing the truth, then we will continue to work to change that."
A similar vote to ban meat from campus menus was held among Edinburgh University students in 2020. Of the approximate 6,000 students that voted, 58% were against the motion. The PBU campaign is a nationwide student effort to roll out 100% plant-based catering across higher education institutions.
Common sense prevails
All in need of a good meat pie and a wash, soapy bastards.
If I'm paying that much for school I'm not going to be stuck eating vegan either.
Here come the nutrition experts and the corpse munching comedians
Good. Veganism is a CHOICE, not a requirement, and shouldn’t be forced upon anyone. You had a vote, you lost, now move the f**k on and get back to doing what you’re in university to do, which is STUDY AND GET A DEGREE.
Stop eating all the oxygen producing plants.
Do they seriously think that the climate will change if they eat plants 🤡
Get rid of this vegan crap.
Based.
They'd rather have jackfruit & chickpeas shipped or flown thousands of miles than chicken from a few miles away. Vegan diet is not necessarily better for the planet. This country can't support the population on a vegan diet, not enough agricultural land that can be used for crops
Too bloody right! Cornish pasties rather than pasty-faced vegans, every time.
Good god are the youth of today finally wising up to the propaganda bullshit
They always look like they could benefit from eating a good meaty burger.
Meagan cuisine reqd
Just look at the state of them social misfits
No they didn't
Include students too I hope, so everyone can just psss off
Bribed with a juicy steak.
Good
Vox populi, vox dei.
Possibly because it may have offended their trans friends who come fully equiped with meat and 2 veg.
19%. Less than 2 in 10. As expected. This time the tail didn’t manage to wag the dog.
Good. Limiting people choices is not something liberals generally do. Well at least the old generation liberals
There is some hope for the future then.
Pmsl bless em 🤣have a bacon sandwich you'll feel better
Wow! University students with a brain and some guts to stand up for something
good
Give people choice not forced points of view
Seriously, banning non plant base food? Thats not up to student union to force others to go vegan. Pure bullshit
Common sense Prevails😎
Like religion, veganism shouldn't be forced onto people! It should be a choice. How would they react if vegan food was banned? 🙄
Good!
The common sense wave is rising
I don’t think that eating fish impacts the climate crisis. I thought these students were supposed to have above average IQ’s
Good, let people have a choice, have both vegan and non vegan options but dont force people to only have vegan options
Plant-based food is not a solution to end the climate crisis.
The biggest carbon cost in the food industry is from food wastage. Solve that problem first.
Have more vegan options but don't force your beliefs on others
Too bloody right! Cornish pasties rather than pasty-faced vegans, every time.
Good
Not surprised. They'd probably had enough of their bullying and childish name calling.
Trudeau enacts special measures to shut down protesters bank accounts. The Dutch crack down on farmer protests but loose elections to them. Macron bypasses parliament to enact special pension measures. The BBC say f**k all while western democracy comes under attack
There is no climate crisis.
Excellent surely the bans can't be implemented anyway, what's to stop people turning up with there meat dishes and eating them on site?
rice bread and pasta is nice
Fkin state of em! Meat o’clock here! 😋
