A district court on Thursday heard that the accused is tentatively set to plead guilty to the charge at the High Court on Aug 7.
The teen, who was 16 at the time, allegedly slashed the head, neck and body of the boy with the axe before noon on July 19, 2021 inside a toilet at the school.In the week following the incident, Education Minister Chan Chun Sing The teen later made the same request to another group of students in the classroom next to the toilet.
The younger boy was found motionless with"many wounds" and was pronounced dead there, Mr Chan had said.
