A new Texas Senate bill is proposing a copy of the Ten Commandments be in every single classroom in Texas.

Senator Phil King explains his intent in creating Senate Bill 1515: S.B. 1515 would require Texas public elementary and secondary schools to display the Ten Commandments in each classroom.

Stone v. Graham, 449 U.S. 39 , had held that the Lemon test prohibited public schools' display of the Ten Commandments; but, with the end of Lemon, Stone v. Graham that is no longer applicable. Many public schools prior to Stone v. Graham did display the Ten Commandments, as a part of America's history and tradition. See American Legion v. American Humanist Association, 139 S. Ct. 2067, 2083 .

"I think this would be a good healthy step for Texas to bring back this tradition of recognizing America's religious heritage Senate Bill 1515 restores a little bit of those religious liberties that were lost and most importantly will remind students all across Texas of the importance of a fundamental foundation of America and Texas law and that being the 10 commandments.

A bill that's not meant to pass, but so that Rep can go back home with 'see I tried' while making republican look insane to everyone else.

Maybe the Texas Senate should try and read them first? Hypocrites

That the way it should be. This is America and if you don’t like it leave the state. Texas rules

Yes! These kids need Jesus

Yes!!!

Nothing wrong with that we want a good world not a bad world.

Won't happen, Stone v. Graham (1980) has already ruled it against the establishment clause of the First Amendment.

You want Ten Commandments in schools, put your kids in private Christian schools and get to it. However, I’ll bet the majority of those supporting this couldn’t tell you all ten of the commandments.

It should be in all schools

YES!!!

Watch bad behavior drop like a rock.

I say keep it up, the young voters are becoming more vocal. You know the ones that are woke and the ones who feel their rights are being violated.

For public school? If so hell no.

TEXAS NEEDS GOD BACK IN OUR SCHOOLS AND HIS PROTECTION. THESE COMMANDMENTS OUTTA BE IN OUR CHILDRENS HEARTS. NOT JUST A STATUE THAT STANDS ALONE BUT SOMETHING THAT IS INSTILLED IN OUR HEARTS INCLUDING THE PARENTS!!!!

How about starting with the pledge of allegiance every morning? Or you can homeschool if not.

Aw heck no,also no replacing our school counselor with chaplains. By the way that is the other thing thar is being proposed. People's choice of religion should be taught in the home, remember seperation of church and state!!!!!

Stop shoving your religious lifestyle down our throats.

good

Great totally agree and they should be be doing the Pledge of Allegiance as well.

1st amendment

It's like these lawmakers have never heard of the Constitution, the establishment clause, separation of church and state. We don't need the 10 commandments in school, we need actual, factual learning because it's clear the TXGOP did not get a basic education in history.

I agreed.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion. Here's a suggestion to not violate the Bill of Rights, just include Muslim religion as well..

Excellent news 👏

👍👍👍👍

Perhaps all of those opposed to this measure should actually read the 10 commandments and post which ones they object to our children following. These are not preaching any religion but rather a roadmap to a productive life. Is common decency dead in our nation? It isn't in Texas

SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE!

And it’s needed in this day and age!

Will be wonderful. Hope they keep the 4 command of the 7th day sabbath.

Separate religion from state please, work on Patriotism and mathematics, reading, science

No separation of state and religion..Ooo that's right the Dems burned the Constitution..o well

Seperation of State and Church? TX Senate:

Better they post the Gospel, but it’s a start.

Back to the 60's. A lot of good school kids in the 60's.

Yes!

So basically is a list of things that most republicans don’t do but pretend they do. Hypocrites!

What happened to freedom of religion?

Yay!!!!! Bring school prayer back. God is our only hope!

God Bless Texas!

All you need is what Jesus said to do. Love God and love your neighbor. You won’t lie, cheat, or kill if you love.

So, we need one of the Quran too.

Tejas is really making liberal heads spin!

It’s a little bit too late for that

So the kids can pray while being shot at?

I'll personally destroy every single one I find. You losers want a war, you're about to get one.

Imagine if they would have used their resources for things that matter like new roads, or solving homeless situations that come up. Damn… nope let’s waste time getting commandments in school. Great idea.

Yep. In Texas we honor the constitution except when we don't.

Separation of church and state.

BESIDES NOBODY NOW AND DAYS “ CHRISTIANS” OR NOT! FOLLOW ANY OF THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. NONE OF THEM! Or pick and choose themselves which ones they WANT to OBEY. It’s absolutely POINTLESS TO PUT IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS! KEEP THAT AT HOME OR KEEP IT AT CHURCH! WHATEVER YOUR FAITH IS.

Keep “religion” or “Christianity” of any kind… OUT OF SCHOOL. That’s for the parents of their OWN children at HOME. You want Jesus or God in school?! Then GLADLY pay a tuition for a private Christian school. Or homeschool your own children. It’s as simple as THAT!

That would be a great start!

Seems like a idea that would do more good than bad

Give me a break.

Separation of church and state.

Make it happen remove the rainbow

A useless thing for many who are not Christians and on top of that what version of the 10 commandments are they proposing?

Amen

So I guess you didn’t like all the positive responses and decided to put up a new post to see if the insane would respond to a god they don’t believe in anyway Yep… that’s what happened

Yes!!

Fantastic! Praying it passes. Bring back Jesus Christ!

😂😂😂

No.

Absolutely!!

Sorry, but that is just stupid. Why don’t you worry about more important things.

About time.

What about the rest of the faiths...will they also be allowed to have dopies of books of their faiths in every classroom in Texas? I'm asking for the rest of humanity...

As a Christian, I would love this, as they are obviously good rules for life, but this shouldn’t be pushed in public schools

That’s awesome. To bad the kids In HISD can’t read 😏

Faith is the foundation of values, character and well-being. Put them in the classroom.

Get that shit out of here. Separation of church and state. Public schools are state institutions. Therefore, it has no place in them!

I think there are allot of religions and that will say, This is a christian school. While leaving out other religions at takes away from academics.
