This is part of a broader effort led by DeSantis and a compliant GOP-majority Legislature to reshape education at various levels, including getting rid of university DEI programs, encouraging private school attendance by offering taxpayer-funded vouchers regardless of income, restricting and banning books, and limiting discussion of LGBTQ+ topics in class.
“There’s a word: freedom. Not coercion. Academic freedom,” Newsom said. “I’m just trying to wake people up.”The governors of California and Florida — two of the nation’s biggest ideological rival states — are leading in opposite directions. Both may run for president. “It just feels like we are a pawn,” Escalante said. “I just don’t think education is something we should be weaponizing. It’s just like a personal attack.”
Florida is a banned travel state by Newsom... there is definitely a trend here.
California is rated among the lowest public education and test scores in the entire country
Ever notice how the teachers unions always support the most far left candidates. It’s almost like their devotion to socialism far out ways their job of educating our children in reading writing arithmetic and love of country. We need to break the teachers union up and go private
CA student stats are really bad. Newsom is no hero.
The goal is to have private schools only, then eventually eliminate vouchers. So, like healthcare only the wealthy will have access . It's another step in eliminating taxes.
It’s hard to believe this clown thinks he has a shot at national office.
