A judge has approved a class-action settlement that could lead to more than 200,000 loans being canceled based on claims that colleges misled students.

The new application concerns a settlement approved by California-based U.S. District Judge Willam Alsup in November in a case brought by borrowers who claim their federal student loans should be canceled because their schools, many of which are for-profit, allegedly engaged in misconduct.

Wouldn’t it just be easier to have Al federal student loans be out on a 0% interest payment plan? Borrowers pay back their debt and don’t get gouged in the process and save the taxpayers from being gouged themselves.

We need to strip defendants of just a few of their rights. Like the right to put their case on hold, while people are still currently paying them. This is bullshit if it goes through.
