Additional Superanuation Charge (Pension levy) as high as 10.5% for public sector workers. In time of a recruitment crisis getting rid of this additional tax would be a good start INMO_IRL astiunion

1. 2 tier pay system. 2. No permanent contracts. 3. Expensive 2 year masters. 4. Half of a pension. Listening NormaFoleyTD1 ?

Was wondering how use boys got in decoy_daithi davediggydog

A pay rise Why can’t unions fight the actual issue here - the lack of permanent jobs!!!

Horrible 'me feiner' profession. What they did during covid was despicable, happy to sit at home while children's education suffered and only came back to work kicking and screaming . Getting full time pay for part time work.

I hope the astiunion as well as TUIunion and INTOnews can see that an end to two-tier pay must be achieved as a priority over pay rises for those on the pre-2011 scales. It is the post 2011 scale that is the key factor in attracting graduates into the profession.

Great, so we have numbskulls and lgbt predators teaching Irish children? Time to home school.

The two year PME is a major factor. Some people used to do the one year H. Dip to see if teaching was for them, and many found it was. Two years is too long and too expensive. Coupled with two-tier pay, it's no longer a viable option for many, even if they would like to teach.

Maybe offer full-time permanent contracts instead of a handful of hours on a precarious one… schools are offering roles people can’t afford for take up.

And we have Michael Martin talking of the dangers of homeschooling. Farcical.

There was a time when a HDip was adequate and then the Government and Universities decided to 'raise the standard' with an MEd. The inevitable result is graduate teachers saddled with debt, who can make an easier living in an oil-soaked Middle East country. It's not complicated.

Not to worry. There’s always the Drag Queens if things get really desperate.
