Incumbents leading the way in heated District 211 school board race dhelection

With 72% of precincts reporting, Kimberly Cavill had 6,466 votes; Steven Rosenblum 6,350; Peter Dombrowski 6,173; and Mark Cramer 5,695.

Cavill and Rosenblum, along with newcomers Michelle Barron and Jane Russell, were supported by the district's teachers union and a local political action committee called Palatine Supports Public Schools. Cramer and Dombrowski, along with new candidates Susan Saam and Barbara Velez, were critical of the district's decision to adopt the state's new comprehensive sex ed curriculum. They were supported by a local conservative group called Citizens For Kids Education .

Recent Palatine High School grad Aiden Branss and district parent Meenal Dewan expressed support for the revised sex ed curriculum but defined themselves by their independence from the other candidates. Former candidates Angela Geitner and Joan Sherrill dropped out of the race, but too late for their names to be removed from the ballot.
