The experience started Sunday morning - students and their parents gathered atto meet chaperones and organizers. Sydney Lee said "safe travels" to her daughter.All 12 students were selected to spend spring break in Oahu and Maui for free. It's a collaboration between Oakland Unified Schools, Alaska Airlines, and a travel luggage company called State Bags. Scot Tatelman is State's co-founder.
Tatelman says this is part of his company's "Travel Academy." Not only is it a chance for kids to spend time in a tropical paradise, but they will also learn how to be mindful tourists, learn the state's history, and volunteer. At SFO's Alaska Airlines check in counters, students say the idea of traveling to Hawaii was still sinking in.
I hope they leave their guns and dope at home

My school went to the local Safeway for a field trip, we got to see behind the milk fridge and throw stuff in the baler.
I love love this and I wish more students could get this opportunity…doesn’t even have to be so far..I’m delighted for them
Hopefully these kids will see how great life outside of Oakland is and will strive to get out.

22 Ohio School Districts Have Staff Members Authorized to Carry Weapons on School GroundsA law giving local boards of education authority to decide whether to allow their teachers and school workers to carry firearms went into effect September 12. Since then, some districts schools are choosing to arm their staff. this is either poorly-timed truth or an april fools joke in very poor taste. Way to go!
