San Antonio Brahmas’ head coach Hines Ward looks up at the video board during the second quarter of Sunday’s XFL game against the Arlington Renegades.Searching for the next button to press after the San Antonio Brahmas dropped to 2-5, coach Hines Ward mentioned the option of going back to the basics of “old-school football.”

“Sometimes I think these players, they get caught up into the luxury and think they made it, but they really haven’t. If I have to take some of these privileges away from these players, then I have to do so.”

After his deep pass to T.J. Vasher drew a 43-yard pass interference penalty, Benkert linked up with Fred Brown for a 1-yard touchdown. He was taken to the locker room for X-rays and returned to the field early in the second quarter, then was knocked out of the game for good late in the fourth quarter, absorbing a hit from behind that dropped him to a knee and left him grabbing at the left side of his chest.
