to dedicate 35% of subcontracting on the project to local, minority-owned and women-owned businesses and will be hosting an information session on April 5 at 10 a.m. at Wilson Club in Welsh Ryan Arena. The leadership team will be there to discuss the available opportunities for contractors and businesses.Other topics planned for the meeting will include bidding process information, timelines and workforce training details.
According to the university, this will be the first meeting of many to help the construction firms connect with local businesses.“Northwestern remains committed to creating economic opportunities for minority-owned, woman-owned and local Evanston businesses,” Vice President for Operations at Northwestern University Luke Figora said in the news release. “We want to enable Turner-Walsh to start the efforts they’ve committed to, while we work through the final stages of approval with the City.
The news release said the university plans to submit its development application to the city in April where it will be discussed by the Land Use Commission and City Council.
