“From the very first suggestion of, ‘hey can we get a group together and kickstart home and school again,’ it was met with an immediate ‘we will not meet with you,’” said Nace.Behaviour slips at P.E.I. elementary school being used to 'publicly shame' students, say parents “We were told by the home and school federation that our goal is to give feedback to the administration, that is why we exist. Our purpose is to connect parents’ voices to the school,” she said. “Well, we tried to do that, but what we are starting to realize is maybe that is not the purpose.”
However, Ross said Cameron had rallied members of the school’s staff to attend the meeting. He said the principal and the staff were defensive and portrayed the meeting and concerns as a personal attack on them. Ross said the meeting, as well as sharing the concerns of parents with administrators, was never meant as an attack on staff but intended to create conversation and an opportunity to change the school for the better.
