"We all know what it's like when you're hungry: nothing is ever quite right when you're waiting for that next meal. She said after having consulted with other Australian jurisdictions that had introduced similar programs without a pilot, the government decided a pilot was important to ensure the program was tailored to each school's individual needs.

Gilmore Primary School, one of the five schools involved in the pilot, already has a breakfast club for their students. Ms Lucas said while she would love to see the program grow beyond its currently proposed three days a week, the pilot was a move in the right direction.

Wow! I thought Aus was a uniquely caring country, you know, watching out for each other: mates, fair go, & all that. Or is this just tough love: to bad kid if you're hungry or malnourished, time to toughen up!

FMD more Green Labor welfare for millionaires & well paid family welfare recipients.

Children fed healthy at a young age will perhaps grow to become healthy adults thus avoiding ending up in hospital and further exacerbating our stressed out health system. Money well spent.

Isn’t that the job of parents? Or is this the new “the party will provide all” rhetoric?

A new 'tax payer' funded pilot program. Good to see an investment in our countries future.

Please lets see this in ALL public schools in ALL States... like England and Europe for years - high school and primary school lunches gave us energy for a long afternoon. Often with parents working the evening meal would be late.
