An 18-year-old high school student in Ocean County was hospitalized Wednesday with injuries from being struck by a car after stepping off a school bus, authorities said.
Police said the bus was traveling south on Madison Avenue when the driver activated his flashing red lights, according to Lakewood Police Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith. As the teen walked past the bus, he was struck by a car headed south in the passing lane of Madison Avenue, Staffordsmith said.
There used to be a law that children couldn't cross the street when exciting a school bus. Guess that changed for money reasons...
