Ruth Perry died by suicide in January after Caversham Primary School's leadership and management was criticised

A primary school headteacher took her own life following an inspection in which her school was given the lowest possible rating, her family have said. Ruth Perry, 53, was the headteacher at Caversham Primary School in Reading.

She told BBC South that inspectors claimed there was evidence of the sexualisation of children at the school after a boy was seen doing a flossing dance move, from the video game Fortnite. “I remember the very first day I saw her, rather than just speaking to her on the phone, a couple of days after the end of the Ofsted inspection, she came, she was an absolute shadow of her former self.”

Inspectors said school leaders did not have the “required knowledge to keep pupils safe from harm”, did not take “prompt and proper actions” and had not ensured safeguarding was “effective”.

The difference being I still have hope the cqc are acting with best intentions whilst ofsted are just parroting political views. I have an ofsted inspector on the books

Headteacher, 53, took own life after Ofsted rated her primary school 'inadequate'Headteacher took own life after damning Ofsted inspection found her school 'inadequate' in 'worst day of her life' Ofsted: a failed system run by failed teachers. ‘Outstanding schools don’t need inspection’ said Ofsted, ‘oh we’ve made a mistake’ says Ofsted then they become super harsh interpreters of a very loosely written framework, especially on those schools they’ve ignored for decades. Welcome to Serengeti by XA_Travels Such a shame we don’t see the same level of scrutiny of politicians for their inadequate management of this country. Teachers expected to work miracles with little to no support and shrinking budgets in real terms.
