A former teacher accused of playing with female students’ hair and touching their shoulders at school denied having any sexual intent. Anthony Hook, 62, is on trial accused of sexually assaulting eight girls while he was employed at a Greater Manchester school, where he worked for almost two decades.
"Has your conduct towards your students ever been sexual?," he was asked by his barrister. "Never, ever," Mr Hook replied. "I have two daughters.Part way through the trial, which began last week, Mr Hook was found not guilty of one count of having sexual activity with a child on the judge's direction.
"I think being a teacher you need to have many, many qualities," he said under questioning from his barrister Timothy Jacobs. "You have to be entertaining, you have got to be authoritarian, and you have got to have a good sense of humour. "I can't help my personality, I hope I am a nice guy and I am quite jovial. I am rarely sad, well I am now but... I'm always in a reasonably good mood."
Yes there are some very sick people out there but I actually feel like this teacher is a nice person. Hand on shoulder, hand on head. Sadly, society has changed so much you have to walk on egg shells.
