A New Jersey high school is warning parents about an interactive marketing campaign for the new film, “Scream VI” that allows students to send possibly frightening messages from Ghostface, the horror movie’s main villain.enables users to input a phone number and name to which an auto generated phone call is sent out in the Ghostface character’s voice.

“Obviously this has been an unexpected and unsettling call or message for students,” Haddon Heights Junior/Senior High School Principal Karim Fisher said in a statement on Thursday. The school launched an investigation into the messages after, “an incident that occurred at the Haddon Heights Jr./Sr. High School,” on Thursday, Fisher said.

The school has identified some of the students involved and the IT department is in the process of checking student browser history as part of an ongoing investigation, Fisher said.Discuss the seriousness of playing a prank, teasing or spreading rumors with their children.“Scream VI” is the sixth film in the popular “Scream” horror series and follows four survivors of Ghostface seeking a fresh start.Our journalism needs your support.
