The Western Cape government has obtained an interdict from the Cape Town Labour Court against public servants affiliated with the National Education, Health and Allied Workers Union (NEHAWU).

, both the Department of Health and the Department of Social Development sought a court injunction against the protesters.This follows four days of protest action, primarily in Khayelitsha, which disrupted healthcare services at the Khayelitsha District Hospital and the Michael Mapongwana Community Day Centre.

NEHAWU and several other public servant unions have been at odds with the government over wage disputes.
