I remember doing this when I was in High School in the 1980's. Certain parts of the shop class' curriculum gave advanced standing in the respective applicable trade. It was a great idea then and I don't know why it ever got dropped!

I definitely don't know how to feel about this. The way the fast forward learning works is once you've struggled in school you can either do a life skills course or dual credit college courses. I think it should be similar to those programs and not an immediate option
As a former tech program manager this type of option has been available through OYAP for years. So Lecce and Fors can’t stop trying to take credit for it … (slimy buttholes) 🤨

Are you kidding me? Kids did a victory lap when I graduated OAC in '91 & some worked a year before uni/college. Then they took OAC away & kids STILL went back for a victory lap or two..now kids can be done grade 10 & do apprenticeship? Should ONLY be grade 12 graduating allowed
This will only work if there are more College spots opened for the schooling portion. My 18 year old graduated in June and is STILL waiting for a spot for his year 1 program. He signed his apprenticeship papers almost a year ago!
This program will allow the students an opportunity to learn how to go get coffee and donuts!
You need to do this for your students graduating university, MSc, PhDs or other new professionals. High school students can’t break into an industry they know little about!!

Another non-announcement. Gr 11s have been able to start accruing apprenticeship hours for AT LEAST 18 years. For many, Gr 11 is the first year students get more than 2 electives & should explore as many opportunities as possible. 1/2

This was already a thing…co-op placement. U could literally earn 4 of ur high school credits just by working in an industry. I had tons of friends who did auto. Lots of kids just misuse it to get out of school and go work at a retail store for free. So they did nothing 🤣

I had given up on ford, but a decision like this he keeps pulling me back in. In a short while professionals well qualified from 'outside' will take all the positions. Outside tradespeople( some) from third world countries, find it hard to fit in with fast paced manufacturing etc
Grade 10 education sounds like right for being stuck on a job until you grow up and have a family and a mortgage. upgrading education later in life + no qualifications is a terrible idea. Finish your ed kids! This is a terrible idea /financial future outcome.
