McDowell served as Solanco’s coach the past nine seasons. He led the Golden Mules to two section championships and 94 wins during his tenure, according to the report.
He also served as an assistant with the softball team and taught language arts at Smith Middle School. “What a great person,” Smith principal Paul Gladfelter said. “Chad put so much into our community, inside the school and outside of the school. He was a fixture in our community because he was involved with so much — as an educator, as a coach and as a parent.”
