Draining funds from public schools toward private charters led to this predicted state of disarray. Privatization of education is like that of prisons: prohibitively expensive at the expense of the public trust. Betsy de Voss failed in Detroit. We don't need her failures in L. A.

I don’t know how this works but LAUSD proposal for personnel was only for 1yr & the CSR was less than desirable. So I don’t understand how they can say they want a quick resolution. Why is this so difficult?

Where the hell has all that lottery money gone?

They sound like Trump...making the same offer...don’t want to give the teachers anything..

We don’t care about you guys austinbeutner lausd we care about teachers and students that’s it

AustinLASchools is lying. So is the board, especially Monica4LAUSD. The entire LAUSD board must go for this ugly and deceitful campaign to destroy public schools and turn them into private charters.

Says the guy that makes $350,000 to appease the bureaucratic board that voted to raise their salaries to $125,000 from $45,637. Oh, and 'members who receive a second salary or stipend, will receive $50,000 per year, nearly double their previous annual salary of $26,437.'

Navigating LAUSD strike is especially tough for parents of students with special needsLos Angeles Unified School District serves 60,000 students with special needs, more than 12% of its overall enrollment. The LAUSD teachers' strike is especially worrisome for the parents of those children, who fear schedule disruptions and other safety concerns. But are they concerned about the conditions of the people who are surrogate parents to their children? If you passed a law that prohibited illegal aliens ( supreme court's term, not mine ) from using public schools, the funding and the class size problem would be solved. Illegal immigrants using public schools affects poor African Americans the most. Selfish teachers need to think about the children first
