The independent school run by the TTO, the language and cultural centre, is an alternative school offering education based on the Mohawk language, culture and tradition.Since the primary school opened in 2011, students have been bussed to Quinte Mohawk School and then transferred to the small school on Hwy 2.https://media.socastsrm.com/wordpress/wp-content/blogs.dir/1977/files/2023/03/ch1.wav
Parent Emerald Lefort-Cummings who has two children enrolled in the school, says the school’s own bus has been a long time coming and is a way for the students to celebrate something that’s theirs.“I feel like this place for them is the best way to do that. It kind of encompasses, you know, all the cultural teachings and seasonal celebrations and stuff so it just kinda made sense. And language being the focus here too.
