Attention high school seniors and college students: Applications are now open for the Miller-Perez Family Scholarship at the nonprofit Latinos Progresando. The scholarship offers financial support to Latinos and immigrants pursuing or already enrolled in college.The scholarship honors Angela Perez Miller, an educator and advocate for bilingual education in Chicago, and her son Dion Miller Perez, who was deeply involved in his community of Marshall Square.

“Latinos Progresando hopes that this opportunity will allow students to continue and further their education — and our hope is also that with that commitment to community service, that they will give back to their community,” said Carmen Guzman, assistant director of development. “We were actually just in touch with one of our recipients from the class of 2020. He’s currently a student at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, hoping to graduate in May 2024.
