As locals, longtime attendees, and anyone who’s been lucky enough to secure lodging during the crowded, convention-style event can tell you, this annual gathering is actually a series of fests devoted to music, technology, comedy, art and V.R. exhibitions, TED talk–style keynote addresses, and a lot you can simply file under “dedicated to still keeping Austin weird.
Several of those type of big-tent titles are slated to screen at SXSW this year, along with the fest’s usual assortment of microindies, music documentaries, intriguing debuts from up-and-coming filmmakers, and a lot of offbeat fare.
