Blended learning will continue at Wits University despite ongoing protest | City Press

Wits University has announced that classes in a blended learning format will continue as of Monday.

This was after the student representative council president, Aphiwe Mnyamana, told students that Vilakazi's house was being paid for by the students' fees. He said: “For us to continue as normal, students who are owing should register. As the SRC, we went on a cleaning campaign where we cleaned Hillbrow Clinic and asked donors to donate money. The Motsepes donated R1 million to the SRC and Investec donated R2.7 million, but this is not enough as the number of students who applied for our funds required R33 million,” he added.

The senior executive team was concerned that new demands were added to the original list submitted by the SRC.Additional 1000 beds to be added to the current 500 accommodation beds provision; Responding to the amended demand on the additional 1000 beds, Patel said the SRC agreed in its meeting with the dean of students affairs that an additional 150 beds would be sufficient and the university was currently in the process of fast-tracking the procurement of the 150 beds.
