Daily News | Penn State English teaching faculty say they aren’t paid a living wage

President Bendapudi pledged to address the pay of Penn State English teaching faculty, but the university already broke a promise to deliver merit-based raises.on Feb 27, 2023, 5:00 a.m. ET

Salary data collected by faculty in the department, and shared with Spotlight PA, suggest lecturers are annually paid around $35,000, assistant teaching professors earn about $38,500, and associate teaching professors make around $42,500.. For a single adult with a child, the needed annual income jumps to $70,989.

Prawdzik — and four other faculty members interviewed by Spotlight PA — pointed out that nearly all Penn State students are required to take two English courses, which are mostly taught by teaching faculty.the university has worked for years to “address salary inequities in the department.”

Will_Bunch Well, we COULD shut down Soc Sec & public education to help pay them a living wage, but THAT money NEEDS to go to the top 000.1 percent for tax breaks. SUCH a dilemma.🙄
