“During the moratorium, school boards have been delicately balancing the upkeep of aging infrastructure, shifting enrolment, and financial pressures while doing their best to deliver quality programming in their schools. Since then, enrolment at some schools has continued to dwindle, while some schools in the suburbs are bursting at the seams with portable classrooms in the yards.

“It is important to note that, while a school may currently have low enrolment, that does not mean this situation will necessarily continue as populations shift and grow. Pupil accommodation reviews provide an opportunity to analyze a number of factors in order to better understand how we can best support student learning and well-being within our schools while remaining fiscally prudent with the resources available.
