Denver City Council member Chris Hinds said he was humiliated when he had to get out of his wheelchair and attempt to crawl onto a stage before a debate because the venue did not have proper accessibility.
"No one should have that experience, and I have apologized to Councilman Hinds personally," he said in a."Our office continues to communicate with all debate sponsors to ensure that they can fulfill ADA requirements and other needs." "Three of the four candidates arrived 2.5 hours in advance of the event February 13, 2023, upon the CPRD event staff request. This enabled final adjustments and accommodations," the school said.
That's unacceptable
Inhumane
As the strong young crowd stands a foot away from him & stares, when they could’ve assisted & lifted him, & the chair-on & off the stage. It’s strange. Either this is a set up to prove a point, or this is a bunch of people who were not raised right, in attendance that day.
Well that’s not a good look. Got to be better Denver.
That’s is absolutely ridiculous that he had to endure that. That venue should be appalled and immediately required to install proper accessibility for all. Beyond absurd.
When NBC report this , only reason money and promoting fraud.
That’s really sad.
