TEXAS — Law enforcement officials announced Wednesday the arrest of Jason Xavier Villanueva. Luis Eduardo Navarrete and Magaly Mejia CanoNavarrete, 21, and Cano, 29, were charged federally Feb. 6 for the overdose of 10 juveniles, three of them fatal.containing fentanyl to eight juvenile dealers directly or indirectly, in addition to adult dealers. , the juvenile dealers range from age 14 to 17 and are students at R.L. Turner High School. Villanueva is a former student of R.L.
“I feel like there will be more arrest after this because this 22-year-old he’s having to have some other resources that’s supplying him,” said Christina Peña, mother ofPeña’s 21-year-old daughter died of fentanyl poisoning in 2021. She was an alumnus of Newman Smith High School. The mother told Spectrum News she didn’t know of Villanueva but was pleased to see law enforcement take swift action.
“It does give me some type of hope. I’m so glad the police chief is on top of everything. He’s reaching out,” Peña said. Angelina’s mom hopes the person who gave her daughter the fentanyl laced pill will soon be brought to justice too.“As a parent, we need to speak with our children on a daily basis. We cannot be their friend. We have to be their parent,” Peña said.in early February to share her story to get parents to understand fentanyl is impacting everyone.
