*As NSCDC launches emergency response centre against kidnappings, terrorism Federal Government has said that it will ensure the prompt release of funds for the financing of the National Safe Schools Initiative to ensure that children are able to go to school without fear of kidnappings or abductions for ransom.
Agba explained that as a follow-up to an earlier commitment by the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, budgetary allocation was provided in 2023 to ensure smooth take-off and sustenance of the initiative. “Security in recent times is becoming a major concern to the average man or woman on the street simply because of the high rate of crimes in various parts of the world. We must therefore support every effort geared towards making our schools safe. This initiative is one of such efforts,” he notes.
According to him, “No nation can attain development in the face of widespread insecurity of lives and property. He adds that “In view of the importance of education to human capital development, it has become expedient for the federal government to deploy extraordinary measures to tackle the spate of attacks on schools facilities in Nigeria hence, the commitment and endorsement that all Nigerian schools become safe and secured for uninterrupted teaching and learning activities.
