The information shows that waiting times have increased by 58% at CUH in the three years since December 2019.Other hospitals with lengthy wait times for admission include Mercy Hospital in Cork at 25.1 hours and Tallaght Hospital at 23.3 hours. The figures are contained in a response to a parliamentary question to the HSE tabled by Sinn Féin's health spokesperson David Cullinane."What we are seeing is the numbers creep up and get bigger every single year.
An HSE spokesman said that emergency department wait times are affected by both internal patient flows and what is happening in both the hospital and the community. The spokesperson added that a total of 970 new acute beds were delivered by the end of December 2022 under the National Service Plan and Winter Plan 2021/22.
