A California man took his toddler son for a manicure after he said the boy’s teacher said “painting your nails is only for girls.”
In an interview with NBC News on Tuesday, Shearhod, a teacher in Los Angeles County, said his son first expressed interest in nail polish around the age of 2.When Ashton came home upset after his teacher’s remark, Shearhod said he and his girlfriend hoped to cheer the boy up by taking him to the nail salon.
Since sharing the video on TikTok, more than 14,000 users posted comments, mostly in support of the dad and son. Another user wrote, “I’m a girl, and work on cars. My brother-in-law loves the color pink. My son loves his nails polished. The earth still turns the right way.

Dying kids hair or using nail polish frequently in kids isn’t right. All those chemicals in the hair and nails aren’t good for kids.

My son liked his nails painted too. And, long hair and a man bun and sometimes barrettes and headbands. He grew out of this, but let me tell you that if he still liked these things, I’d 100% support my child.
