Clear Creek High chamber choir aims to gain another state championship at Texas Madrigal Festival

The chamber choir at Clear Creek High School hopes to reclaim a state championship the school has won several times when its 21 members compete Feb. 18 at the Texas Madrigal Festival in Dallas. The school's choir won the event three times under the direction of twin brothers Kyle and Sean Pullen, who now teach at universities.

“It is known throughout the state as the most competitive music festival in Texas,” said Sean Pullen, who is now director of choral activities at West Texas A&M University School of Music in Canyon. The program will include “Verbum caro factum est” by Hans Leo Hassler, “Kalinda” by Sydney Guillaume and “Good Night, Dear Heart” by Dan Forrest.

Accordingly, he and many other directors now call the event “MadFest” rather than Texas Madrigal Festival. Ready to hit the high notes for Clear Creek High are chamber choir members including: Rachel R. Bader, Eve M. Balla, Zachary J. Barboza, Shaylee N. Beck, Hayley M. Bermont, Vanessa M. Brown and Nathaniel R. Clark.
