The Columbus City Schools Board of Education started and ended Tuesday night's meeting by talking about transportation.it was the topic of a handful of speakers during the public participation and comment portion of the meeting.“It’s clearly not a crisis to you all,” said Regina Prince, a parent of two in the district — a sixth grader at Arts Impact Middle School and a second grader at Maize Elementary.
Prince, who said that her son's new stop drops him off"directly in the yard of a registered sex offender," gave the board a petition that she said more than 100 parents signed asking the school board to fix the transportation issues and work with parents to come up with a solution. The district blamed the mid-year changes on the nationwide shortage of drivers as well as issues with a new $1.5 million software system, AlphaRoute, that was supposed to more efficiently and effectively develop bus routes — but instead has apparently contributed to major problems for hundreds of students and their parents.
If your kid was on a school bus still being driven around at 7pm would you be upset? Kids dropped off at wrong stops constantly too.
