Adults are responsible for letting this child down. This young lady is already signed at Reutgers but will miss so many great memories and game time.
This is Sad for her, but, there are rules and it seems as if her coach/momma knows about them.

After reading the article, it would appear that she cashed the check, a clear violation and totally within her control. Other players returned the same checks uncashed and were not penalized.
They need to let that kid play. Some adults hate having to accept culpability for their ineptitude..
