SALT LAKE CITY — Unhealthy air is still affecting Utah and its residents, and the recent snow storms and other factors are not helping much.
He said while we all need the snow for the water it brings, its thick layers on the ground add to our air problems. "This is something that we've been wearily waiting to happen really and truly, you know. We know we're making progress in our controls, but we also know that the population in northern Utah is growing. And when you get these stagnant conditions, this is what we can expect to see," he expressed.
Despite more frequent storms and snow this year? I’m so lost.

well tell the feds, to Stop the spraying, chemicals in the air, makes me ill after every daily spray trails are seen. cities will always have smog issues due to population density. out in the country, air's good unless forest fires happen or smog blows in our direction.
But our politicians don’t care! Because all those refineries put money into campaign elections
What do you expect with oil refineries spewing pollution into SLC from the west and north? Oh, let’s pretend this has not been going on since the 1960s. Nothing new here, except the childhood asthma rates are horrific there.
What Utah wants, Utah gets....
Why isn't the storm blowing it out?
CoralReef84 Wait till the lake dries up...SLC will be near uninhabitable.
Would love to see coverage of the EPA's proposal to lower the PM2.5 standards. They're accepting comments on lowering the standard which would have huge benefits for Utah, but we need ppl to comment. I'd be happy to chat. jedboal
The legislature abd EPA needs to address USMagnesium pollution problem. It can’t just be the residents of the state to continue to be blamed for problems that we all face
The Salt Lake valley will be uninhabitable by 2050 if we continue with the same trends of influx and pollution.
The first week we get pollution and here's the fear media. So stupid!
How many people have movedto cache valley? I have lived here my whole life couldn't have been more than 10,000 people and less cars sky was clear. Now who know how many and now there is always air pollution.
We live in a bowl filled with refineries and car exhaust. Was a scientific study really necessary? The sky here is gray for 3 months straight every year. Unless you live somewhere like Morgan, Park City, or Midway, you get to breathe pure pollution with every breath you take.
And KSL is doing nothing about it just hyping the story.
Our Legislature does not care and will do absolutely nothing.
The sky is falling!!
This is why climate change is a farce and is extortion. We have cut pollution, we put more electric vehicles on the roads. We’ve done so much to have cleaner air, but no matter how many billions of dollars we spend and personal sacrifices we make, our air is still dirtier.
But…but…Tran kids and roaming buffalos are the main problem UtahGov
It’s time we invest in these
We need more people and less farming to combat this issue…
The obvious answer is to make sure trans kids can't play volleyball
Not true!
So it’s a two fold issue? More severe winters = lower/tighter inversion and more cars emitting pm2.5? Wasn’t there an article on KSL a few years ago talking about cars vs factories/businesses for pollution? Infrastructure sized properly cuts down on time cars are running too
