SINGAPORE — A starting salary of as much as S$10,000 a month? Netizens were left in disbelief at the lofty financial aspirations expressed by some National University of Singapore undergraduates in a recent viral video.

"I think, based on the study done last year, it was actually computer science," one of them responds. In the latest Graduate Employment Survey , conducted by the Ministry of Education in 2021 and published in 2022, the university degree with the highest average gross monthly salary stood at S$6,578. Having spoken to these business and computing students, Mr Pit chances upon a student under the cross-disciplinary philosophy, politics, and economics programme, who aims to work in academia.

Don’t have any expectations, so that you don’t have to deal with the dissapointment. As MJ said, 26. “If you expect disappointment, then you can never really be disappointed.”

Ridiculous expectations! At least 90% of the employers in Singapore will not pay S$ 10,000 monthly salary for a graduate with ZERO relevant working experience. Even paying S$ 5,000 monthly salary to a graduate with ZERO relevant experience as starting pay is not a norm in many

you must be dreaming, what do you have to offer to command such?...just paper! you are still far away.

Personal opinion, this boils down to how we are taught and society expectations; parents told us that if you go Uni you can earn a lot of money (vague). Society expectations expect you to earn high amount after Uni (vague), without working experience 10k don’t sounds that bad

Wake up your bloody idea!!!! No experience!!!!

Your pay has nothing to do with education level, unless you are very skilled, like build a new robot all by yourself. It has more to do with social interaction.. Provided they like you , they will never impart strategies that will help in your career advancement.

No wonder costs and our standard of living getting higher and higher

Typical self-centred and entitled young generation.

Well, 5-10K is what you need to survive these days.

Expectations is different from real life…it’s not wrong to have expectations though but but the higher the expectations, the greater the disappointment when reality hits and that’s when stress starts to build…

Wah! Famous liao! Now she will have some employer engage her and pay her $20K👏👏👏

Wait long long lah
