His son missed an entire academic year

A Leeds dad has been awarded more than £5,000 in compensation after the city council failed to provide “suitable education” for his son.

The report told how the then Year 5 pupil had left one primary school in October 2020, after it said it could no longer accommodate his needs. The Ombudsman said that in the nine months that followed, the boy did not receive “any education at all”, which it said was a failure on the council’s part. “ also had special educational needs meaning he needed additional support to attain the achievements of his peers, and so the lost education is likely to have had a greater impact.”
