Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said the suspect was detained after he crashed the bus at the shoulder of a road along the Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah-Jasin Highway here at 5.45pm on Monday .
"The man told the investigation team that he wanted to drive the bus to his hometown in Selangor," he said on Tuesday. ACP Christopher Patit said the bus, belonging to a 68-year-old man, was earlier parked at a petrol station in Kampung Musai here. He said the owner first thought his brother was driving the bus and only realised that his bus was stolen when the brother contacted him.
ACP Christopher Patit said the suspect has been remanded until Thursday to assist in the investigation under Section 379 of the Penal Code for motor vehicle theft.
