A system of public education that, vouchers or no vouchers, will be responsible for educating the vast majority of our students. Right now there is a large surplus in the state’s income tax fund, which pays for education. That should be an opportunity to build up a system that was so harshly buffeted by the recent pandemic, not further undermine it.
These leaders know there is no significant demand for such a program. Vouchers already available for a few special-needs studentsAlong the Wasatch Front, these vouchers won’t be nearly enough to pay any student’s full private school tuition. The beneficiaries will be well-off families who already send their children to private schools. In the rest of the state, there are virtually no private schools.

I pay high tuition for my kids to go to private school because the education is better. I make a lot of money, but I’m going to use the voucher. The money will go toward college. I have also been funding families with 8 kids my whole life. I’ve earned it.

Public and charter schools don't do free lunches some don't have cafeterias, some don't have working buses, if parents can't pay for all the student supplies then teachers do, this isn't about party, this is about rich kids getting more.

Why so much sacredness about public schools? The important thing is getting a “quality education” in an environment that is conducive to learning. I’m sure the legislature could care less if a lot of students use a voucher. They just want them to have that option.

I'd like a voucher to use so that MY property tax money goes to ONLY public schools. We don't have kids - but we willingly pay for PUBLIC education for the greater good. Seems there could be legal issues here.

2/2 my concern is giving parents, who have no time and no skills to home school, $8000 per kid without any supervision to see whether that money is actually going to go toward education.
There are so many concerns with this bill. It may help well-to-do families along the Wasatch Front who were already planning to send their kids to private school but they may just see their tuition go up $8000! 1/2
