JOHANNESBURG - There are mixed views on a call to do away with the terms "head boy" and "head girl" in the country's schools.
It says these can be harmful to learners who identify as non-binary or transgender, as it sends the message that they are not equal or capable of holding leadership positions. Some say that it is not a significant issue and does not change the lived experiences of those in the LGBTQI+ community, while others believe change is due.
